Not sure where to start? That’s normal.
Here’s a straightforward guide based on where you are right now.
Start here: Have you taken the bar exam before?
I failed the bar exam and need to pass next time.
Your best option: Tutoring or the Retaker Course
If you’ve failed the bar exam — whether once or multiple times — the single most important thing you can do is work one-on-one with someone who can identify exactly why you didn’t pass and fix it. A bar review course alone didn’t get you there last time, and repeating the same approach won’t produce a different result.
Most of our retaker students choose one of two paths:
Path 1: Tutoring Only
Best if you already have course materials from Barbri, Themis, or another program and don’t want to buy a whole new course. Your Marino tutor will work alongside whatever materials you already have, focusing on the specific skills and strategies that will raise your score. Most retakers choose the 10-hour or 15-hour package.
Path 2: The Marino Retaker Course — $1,995
Best if you want a complete program designed specifically for retakers. Includes the Marino Method™ workshops, Memory Boosters™, 1,100+ practice questions, unlimited essay grading, a personalized study schedule, and 3 hours of one-on-one tutoring built in. This is not a recycled first-time taker course — it was built from the ground up for students who have failed and need a different approach.
Not sure which path? Start here — it’s free.
We’ll review your previous bar exam score report at no cost and with no obligation. We’ll tell you exactly what went wrong and what we’d recommend — before you spend a dollar.
I’m taking the bar exam for the first time.
Your best option: The First Time Taker Course, Tutoring, or both
If you’re a first-time taker, you likely already have a primary bar review course through your law school. The question is whether that’s enough for you.
If you want extra support alongside your existing course
Many first-time takers hire a Marino tutor to help with essay writing, MBE strategy, or to stay on schedule during the overwhelming study period. A bar review course gives you the materials — a tutor makes sure you’re actually using them effectively. The 5-hour or 10-hour package is usually enough.
If you want a complete bar review course — $2,500
The Marino First Time Taker Course gives you everything: interactive outlines for every tested subject, 1,100+ MBE practice questions, Exam Performance Workshops, Boot Camp video lectures, the Marino Method™, and a personalized study schedule. You get immediate access and can start the same day you enroll.
Want both? You can add a tutoring package to any course. Many students find that structured materials plus one-on-one tutoring gives them the best chance of passing on the first try.
I just need help with one section of the exam.
Your best option: Tutoring (5 hours or a single session)
If you’re generally on track but struggling with a specific section — maybe the MBE is dragging your score down, or your essay scores aren’t where they need to be — a short tutoring engagement focused on that one area can make a big difference. Your tutor will diagnose the problem and give you targeted strategies to improve.
I need to pass the MPRE.
Your best option: Free MPRE Prep Course
We offer a free MPRE preparation course. It’s online, on-demand, and covers everything you need to pass the Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination.
I’m not sure what I need.
That’s okay. Contact us and we’ll help you figure it out. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about where you are and what makes sense.
If you’ve previously taken the bar exam, we’ll start with a free score report evaluation so we can see exactly what happened and make a specific recommendation.
