NY Bar Exam Release Glitch Causes Sleepless Night for Test Takers

For New York bar exam test takers waiting to receive their results, the situation became even more stressful than usual when an apparent glitch caused them to have to wait hours after they were told that their results were in.

The February 2023 New York Bar Exam results were supposed to be available at midnight, April 21, but, due to a technical problem, did not actually become available until about nine hours later.

Twitter user @briannasbaker, posted to Twitter at approximately 7 a.m., asking, “Did anyone take the NY Bar Exam and can’t see their scores? It lets me register but no pdf with my scores to be found on the website … or is it just me?”

After hundreds of exam takers took to social media to express their concern, officials finally admitted there was an error.

“Earlier on there was an issue,” a state board representative said on Friday at 10:25 a.m., saying, “It was fixed about an hour or so ago.”

She said users needed to log off, clear their cache and cookies and log back in.

Most exam takers were finally able to see their results by late morning.

The passing rate for the 370 graduates of New York law schools that took the bar examination in February 2023 for the first time was 71%, which was a small increase of 2% from the February 2022 examination.
